HOW TO ENABLE YOUTUBE DARK MODE IN IOS AND ANDROID

YouTube Dark Mode was introduced for desktop browsers in 2017, debuted on iOS (both iPhone and iPad) in March 2018, and landed for Android devices in July 2018. It allows you to switch from the bright white light to a deep black at night as viewing in dark mode at night is far easier on the eyes than the classic light mode.

STEPS TO ACTIVATE THE DARK MODE ON YOUR PC OR MAC

The following steps work in all incognito and private browser modes. These steps will also work on Mac and Linux computers, regardless of the browser you’re using.

  1. Launch your browser.
  2. Go to YouTube’s home page.
  3. Sign in. This is an optional step.
  4. In case you’re signed out, click the three vertical dots else click your profile icon.
  5. Select the “Dark Theme: Off” tab.
  6. Click the “Dark Theme” slider.

Now the slider will turn blue and the screen will switch to the dark mode.

STEPS TO DISABLE YOUTUBE DARK MODE

If you want to switch back to the light side follow the steps:

  1. Launch your browser.
  2. Go to YouTube’s home page.
  3. In case you’re signed out, click the three vertical dots else click your profile icon.
  4. Select the “Dark Theme: On” tab.
  5. Select the “Dark Theme” slider.

Now the screen reverts to the classic YouTube color pattern theme.

STEPS TO ACTIVATE THE DARK MODE ON IOS
  1. Launch the YouTube App on your iOS device.
  2. Select your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen. Now the main menu opens.
  3. Click on the “Settings” tab.
  4. Tap on the “Dark theme” slider.

In case you wish to switch back to the light side, repeat the entire process.

STEPS TO ACTIVATE THE DARK MODE ON ANDROID
  1. Launch the YouTube App on your Android device.
  2. Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen. The main menu opens.
  3. Select “Settings”.
  4. Tap on the “General” tab.
  5. Click on the “Dark theme” slider.

Now you can binge watch any shows all night without disturbing your roommates. Your eyes will be grateful in the morning and your roomies won’t be cranky.
